Grinch Stole the Bowl Season

Yeah, I think he did. Yesterday is supposed to be one of the finest days of sports until we get to March Madness. There are bowl games all day and then you throw UL basketball and an outside hockey game it pretty much is enough to make a sports fan hit the OVERLOAD button. But this season, the BCS and those who benefit from it have been caught with their pants down. Thus far we've played 2 BCS games and here are your results.
49-17 USC destroys Illinois. How did the Zooksters end up here anyways? How are they number 17 and that gets them in a BCS game? What about the other top teams who are ahead of Illinois but are destroying teams such as Arkansas. Yes, we leave Missouri out just to see them utterly embarass Arkansas. But anyways in the second half were you not laughing how gross and stupid this enormous "grandaddy of them all" looked. USC might have just been hitting their stride and getting healthy but seriously how embarassed should Illinois be? Good representing the Big 10 again in the BCS.
38-7 Missiouri kills Arkansas (minus Petrino). Missouri went from number 1 in the nation and playing in the Big 12 Championship to destroying Arkansas which isn't even ranked. So you have a former number 1 and a team undeservingly in the Cotton Bowl and this is what you get. Mid as well make the Cotton Bowl the next BCS bowl.
41-10 Hawaii Almost Shows Up Against Georgia. Is Georgia the best team in the land? If nothing else this Georgia team and this Hawaii team are why there needs to be a playoff. For Georgia they would probably find themselves in the championship game...maybe against LSU? On the other side, what Boise State did for non-BCS teams, Hawaii destroyed last night. At no point did you ever think Hawaii was in this game or that they could EVER make some sort of a run. Hawaii should be embarassed, Brennan goes out looking awful in front of a national crowd, and now hopefully June Jones can quit talking about how his team deserves to be "there". Who's worse: Arkansas or Hawaii?
I want to give other big shout outs to the Indiana Hoosiers who finally went on national tv and embarassed theselves. Gundy's fired up Cowboys dropped 35 in the first half and never looked back. Don't blame me, I'm 40!!
And on a nice and much more kinder (is that a word?) level big ups to Florida/Michigan. Good game all around. Michigan gets the win, Lloyd Carr cries, and Tebow who had already won the Heisman was forced to throw. According to the announcing crew that's a bad thing for Florida when the QB MUST throw....I agree. Also, Clemson/Auburn gave us a good game and Kentucky topped FSU minus 36 players. Another game nationally that nobody cares about.
Isn't it too bad that a year with the most bizarre matchups and shocking upsets is also the one with the lamest bowl (thus far) and most boring commentary. Who really wants to watch a 30 point domination. Aren't these teams supposed to be close with all the parity in college football? All we need now is the almost certain collapse of West Virginia and back to back slip ups by the Buckeyes. I hope it doesn't happen but c'mon this is the BCS.
Ciao,
